Alexander Heatherwick was born in born in Aberdeenshire in 1916 at New Pitsligo, son of Alexander and Sarah Ingram HEATHERWICK (née FORDYCE).

He married Ruth Dora WRIGHT in 1941 (Newmarket Q1-1941 3B:2623), (of Moulton, according to CWGC). None have been positively identified in the 1939 register.


On the Army Roll of Honour he is shown as resident in Angus.
The 1st Battalion Scots Guards were in North Africa prior to the landings in Italy at Anzio. The 19th February 1944 seems to have been the turning point in this particular battle, both sides very nearly exhausted, but the German effort to dislodge the Allies failed.
The Scots Guards had two men killed that day.
